About IPF, k.o.
The purpose and objective of the IPF, k.o. operation is collective management of the rights of performers and phonogram producers in accordance with the Collective Management of Copyright and Related Rights Act (hereinafter referred to as ‘ZKUASP’) and a valid permit issued by the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office. IPF, k.o. is the only collective management organisation in Slovenia active in the field of local performers' and phonogram producers' related rights protection home and abroad. Based on the international agreements, we manage and protect also the rights of the foreign performers and phonogram producers in Slovenia.
Founded in 1997, IPF, k.o. obtained a permit for the collective management of the rights of performers and phonogram producers in Slovenia from the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office in November 2000. The founders of IPF, k.o. are record companies Menart Records, Dallas Records, Nika Records, Multimedia Records, Dots Records and SGS, the Slovenian musicians union, who were later joined by other record companies and numerous Slovenian musicians.
On behalf of the holders of the rights of the performers, whose performances are fixed in phonograms, and the holders of the rights of the phonogram producers, IPF, k.o., based on the permit issued by the competent authority, collectively manages the following rights in the phonograms already published:
- right to remuneration for broadcasting and communication of a phonogram to the public,
- right of reproduction of phonograms for private or other internal use,
- right of rental of phonograms,
- right of reproduction and right of broadcasting and communication of phonograms to the public in advertisements in duration of up to 60 seconds.
According to the permit issued by the competent authority, in regard to the reproduction of phonograms for private or other internal use by means of sound recording, IPF, k.o. merely distributes rights revenue among the performers and phonogram producers.
IPF, k.o. plays an important role in the intellectual property protection and music industry development. By having an active role in the region and being an active member of the global and European trade associations AEPO-ARTIS, IFPI, and SCAPR, IPF, k.o. is an important player also beyond the Slovenian borders.
IPF, k.o. supports and implements projects intended for promotion and increasing popularity of the local music industry, the most popular in recent years being Top Radio Songs chart ('lestvica Največkrat predvajanih skladb na radijskih postajah').
